Description

Sisal & Seagrass Fibres:

Both these fibres are exceptionally durable and strong, making them ideal for high-traffic areas in homes or commercial areas.  The rugs can withstand heavy foot traffic without showing signs of wear and tear, making them a long-lasting flooring option.

The rugs have a distinctive texture that is coarse and slightly rough to the touch.  They often have a natural, earthy appearance with variation in colour ranging from creamy beige to light brown.

Please note that sisal & seagrass fibres are not suitable for areas prone to high humidity or moisture, such as bathrooms, as prolonged exposure to moisture can cause the fibres to swell and distort.

Care Instructions:

This requires a delicate approach to avoid damaging the natural fibres.

Regular Vacuuming:

Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove loose dirt, dust & debris from the surface of the rug.  Vacuum the rug in the direction of the weave to prevent pulling or damaging the fibres.

Spot Cleaning:

For spills & stains, blot the affected area immediately with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible.  Avoid rubbing the stain, as this can push it deeper into the fibres.  You can use a mild detergent mixed with water to gently clean the stain.  Test the detergent solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the rug first to ensure it does not cause discolouration.

Rinse with Water:

After spot cleaning, dampen a clean cloth with plain water and blot the area to rinse away any soap residue.  Again, avoid saturating the rug with water, as excessive moisture can damage the fibres.

Air Dry:

Allow the rug to air dry completely after cleaning.  Hand the rug outdoors in a well-ventilated area or lay it flat on a clean surface.  Avoid placing the rug in direct sunlight near heat sources, as this can cause the natural fibres to shrink or become brittle.

Brushing:

If the sisal or seagrass fibres become flattened or matted over time, you can use a soft-bristled brush to gently fluff them up.  Brush the in the direction of the weave to avoid damaging the fibres.

Preventive Measures:

To protect your sisal or seagrass rug from dirt & wear, consider using a rug pad underneath to provide cushioning and prevent slipping.  Rotate the rug periodically to ensure even wear and exposure to light.

Professional Cleaning:

If your sisal or seagrass rug requires deep cleaning or if you’re unsure about how to remove a particular stain, consider hiring a professional rug cleaner who has experience working with natural fibre.
